The Vines Village Cafe & Deli is Marlborough's award winning favourite casual dining destination, a fresh and wholesome cafe specialising in nourishing breakfasts, fresh Supreme coffee, tasty lunches and afternoon drinks. Just a 12 minute drive from central Blenheim the VVC is set amongst the expansive grounds and lakeside gardens of The Vines Village surrounded by Marlborough's world famous vineyards and cellar door's.

With a large kitchen garden, fruit trees and adjoining deli and Tap Room, The Vines Village Cafe aims to use food from sustainable, ethical sources and offers a broad range of food styles and organic beverages (try the local organic kombucha and other wellness tonics), green smoothies and fresh garden salads.

Let the kid's play in the outdoor playground or run free around the fully contained grounds or try the Kid's Treasure Hunt (just ask at the Cafe counter for the clipboard and pens) while you relax in the shade with a fresh coffee or glass of wine.

Dine inside and take in the north-facing vineyard views or outside on the shaded lakeside deck or takeaway from the in-store cabinet made-fresh daily. Try a glass of award-winning Whitehaven wine (their cellar door is on-site), sample the full lunch menu which includes a Marlborough flight board of matched wine & food, cheese boards, Golden Mile Brewing (the micro-brewery is on-site) craft beer or cooling soda's and organic drinks. The Marlborough Roots Dry Gin Distillery opened in June 2019 and the new GMB Craft Beer Taproom & Gin Cellar door adjoining the Cafe is now open so a visit for a classic Roots Gin & Tonic is a must.

So build your own platter box of local produce or choose a foodie gift for a friend at the Vines Village Deli.

Here at the Vines Village Cafe we strive to always keep improving and developing initiatives to realize a sustainable future.

We are proud to have won the 2018 Hospitality NZ Award for 'Best Environmental/Sustainable Business', winner of the 'Business Innovation' category at the 2019 Marlborough Cawthron Environmental Awards, Runner up for 'Business Innovation' at the Retail NZ 2019 Awards and Winner of Best Cafe at the 2019 Wild Tomato Dine Out Awards.

We are smoke free and encourage healthy living - whether it be getting off devices to stroll the grounds, kick a ball around the sports grounds, or supporting the many local events, the Vines Village offers a fun, friendly and relaxed base to explore and cycle around the Marlborough region and a range of healthy, fresh food and organic drink options on the menu that can cater for a variety of dietary requirements.

We support a wide array of home grown and local producers and we have an on-site kitchen garden where the guests regularly help the chefs with their vegetable and herb collecting. We have a wide variety of fruit trees, and organic honey produced onsite with our own FlowHive and used in our cooking and the happy bees pollinate the large native gardens. Visitors are fascinating to watch the team harvest our FlowHive honey. We have 2 pet drake Indian Tailrunner ducks who the kids feed pellets (bags available in the Cafe) and Dog Parking lounge complete with litterbags, leads, dog bowl, chandelier and owners seats. There are all sorts of wildlife around - check out #villagefurryfriends on Insta.

We use premium, ethically sourced Coffee Supreme and the grounds are regularly available for guests to take home to use in their own gardens. We have a full recycling regime and are part of the oil collection programme in Marlborough. In addition to being Qualmark rated we have won several Garden Marlborough awards for our approach to native planting and we actively encourage the native bird life and are involved in the 'Tui to Town' native planting campaign.

We have an extensive on-site recycling system where plastics, wraps, separated glass and food scraps are all re-used. We are on a mission to reduce plastic so encourage the use of glass Keep Cup's  (which can be purchased on-site) and use compostable bags, wheat straws.
Most of our drinks are now in glass so please uyoc (Use Your Own Cup) plus we recycle all our bottle and wine tops for the incredible Kidney Kids fundraising initiative.

We love our local and visiting bikers which is why we are are part of the Golden Mile Cycling Network and even have our own Cycle themed craft beer - Golden Mile Brewing. We produce our own IPA's, APA's Seasonal Beer and locally infused Fruit Ciders too. In May 2019 the new Marlborough Roots Dry Gin Distillery (using fully traceable and foraged botanicals) opened with tastings via the VV Cafe and sales through the VV Deli.

There is a busy schedule of family friendly and community events, live music and outdoor activities at the Vines Village that are well supported to help keep the Village businesses sustainable. From outdoor kid's parties to free use of the outdoor theatre, car rallies, sports prize givings, weddings, Father's Day, Mother's Day and the annual A Festival Of Beer! See what you missed and keep an eye on what's coming up!

We look forward to welcoming you to The Vines Village very soon.

The Vines Village is owned by twin brothers Jeff and Tim Fulton who are passionate about wine tourism and bought the Vines Village in October 2013, and have since been developing the Village with visiting and local family's in mind. All the stores and cafe have been renovated and have added an outdoor theatre, heli-pad, walking tracks, and bike hire, sports field, outdoor chess and petanque court, cycle network, brewery and boutique accomodation. In 2016 they took over the Cafe and have developed it into an award winning business and in 2019 extended it to include the Deli and Golden Mile Brewing Taproom and Gin Tasting experience.

Both are fans of VW Kombi vans, both love cricket and Hawaiian shirts (unlike their wives) and are keen sportsmen and actively encourage
visitors to the Village to head out and hire a bike, kick a ball, roll the arm or just explore, taste and relax.
Check out Jeff's 'insiders guide' recommendations for your trip to Marlborough at Marlboroughnz.com and the VVC Crews picks at #vvcstaffpicks.
They look forward to welcoming you soon!

What People Are Saying

“Amazing!! We had the best lunch this afternoon! The service from every single staff member was amazing. There was a great choice of food, well priced and delicious! We had the pork belly burgers and they were fantastic. Don't get me started on the iced chocolate! Presented so wonderfully. So very kid friendly too. We can't wait to come back again!"

“We visited here as part of our bike tour around Marlborough with our three children. Absolutely fabulous food for the kids and a platter for the grown ups. Heaps of things for the kids to do, including chess, rugby balls, pétanque and an under-5 playground. The wine tasting was also fab, with some great Sauvignon Blancs. Highly recommended.”

Vines Village Café is not just a great place to eat it also is a micro-brewery and live music venue. Owners Jeff and Tim Fulton support a wide array of homegrown and local producers and have an on-site garden where the guests regularly help the chefs with their vegetable and herb collecting.

Must try: A Golden Mile Brewing Grand Tour Lager.

If you dine at the café you can be sure some of the ingredients have come straight from the kitchen garden, and the free-range hens happily pottering around the property are rescued battery hens who deal to the café scraps and provide eggs for baking in return. The Vines Village also produces its own honey with the innovative ‘FlowHive’ that minimises any disruption to the bees when harvesting.

It may sound like a restless life the owners the Fulton twins lead, but somehow that translates into an incredibly relaxing and laidback destination that provides the perfect place for the whole family to while away a lazy afternoon."

"The Vines Villages is in a category all of its own, and you cannot really say you’ve seen Marlborough without making a stop here. A popular destination for locals and travelers alike, the mini ‘village’ could be described as part artisan and farmers market, part café and restaurant, and part cellar door.

The rustic charm of its historical general store facades is attractive enough, but you will be spoiled for choice as you wander from shop to café, perusing some of the locally made goods and flavours. Here you can buy anything from locally made cheeses, wines, and spirits, to ceramics and merino wool sweaters. IThere’s plenty here to see and do including the Whitehaven Cellar Door

Of course, no stopover is complete without treating yourself at the Vines Village Café and Express Kitchen. Here you can sample some locally prepared cuisine, match some food with Marlborough wines or craft beers while enjoying their stunning outdoor dining area overlooking a vineyard. Or just grab a great cup of coffee, by their superstar baristas.

And with an outdoor playground and plenty of activities for the kids, this spot is also a great place for families."

"Its a different kind of cafe. It's the setting that gets you in here, but the wonderful breakfast & lunch menu that will have you coming back to this small quaint and beautiful cluster of village shops. And they have a wonderful wine tasting cellar next to the cafe. We had breakfast here twice [before spending the day visiting family and other tourist locations].

With great food and impeccable service, level entry from a close carpark, it is great for all ages. There is a lovely outdoor area to sit in overlooking the pond, the vegetable garden and a children’s’ play area when the weather is warm, or sit inside looking out in the winter months. Everything is good about this place, we love it and will be back next time we are visiting the area."

“The breakfast menu at the Vines Village Cafe is as good as anywhere in Sydney. Thanks for looking after us so well

* TOP CAFE Blenheim's Vines Village Cafe is famous for its brunching and lunching using the region's best produce"
